SLOVENIAN GENEALOGY SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in the Slovenian Genealogy Society International, Inc! We are excited about all that is happening in Slovenia and here in the United States that can further the work of preserving and disseminating the records of our ancestors. Genealogical research in Slovenia was once extremely difficult, but since Slovenia's independence in 1991, doors are being opened and records are becoming available at an ever-increasing rate.

We are a self-help, nonprofit Society. That is, we help members make use of available information sources as they do their own research. The Society can bring you up-to-date on established information sources, as well as, keep you abreast of new sources through our quarterly newsletter. Based on members' research, we also continually add to our three major indexes of Slovenians who immigrated to the United States and Canada, as well as, their ancestors; this can sometimes shorten your search or lead you to other relatives researching the same families.

As a new member you will have access to two research resources created by our Executive President, Al Peterlin. The references concern doing Slovenian genealogical research in the United States and in Slovenia. They are chock full of research ideas and addresses of various archives. You will also receive access to all of the current year's newsletters, a Slovenian letter-writing guide with additional phrases and Slovenian word list, access to the membership list of local chapters of SGSI, Inc., digitized indices of the Narodni Adresar, and several old family histories.

The Society has been enjoying a slow but steady growth in membership since its inception. The Membership Dues Schedule can be found below. Make your checks out to Slovenian Genealogy Society International, Inc. (All amounts in excess of dues are tax deductible.)
