SERVICES PROVIDED
SGS Library: The Society Library is a private research archive and open by appointment to members of the Society only. Located at the Pennsylvania address, the Society is actively seeking to increase the size of the collection. The Society is seeking donation of Slovene books, book swaps of duplicates with other Slovene collections, magazines, and Slovene immigrant photographs for safekeeping. The Society has an extensive collections of Church Histories, Family Histories, and Slovenian Community Histories. Our Church and Slovenian Community Histories have been indexed and are located on the Internet. Some of our books and magazines have been translated and are now available on the Internet. The collection includes Slovenian telephone books, koledars, bibliographies, lexicons, and gazeteers. The Society has agreements with several ethnic libraries to exchange duplicate publications.

Current indexes maintained by the Society include:
Index to Obituaries appearing in the Forest City News, Forest City, Pennsylvania, 1898-1990. (Several thousand entries.)
Every-name Index to United States Slovene Church Jubilee or Community publications. (50,000 entries.)
Slovenian Ancestry Index, the primary index of the SGSI, Inc.. Each member is asked to complete and submit 3x5 cards and update them as additional information is uncovered.
Publication: Quarterly newsletter, The Linden Tree. The newsletter is available through the mail system for those not on the internet, or by email. Effective January 2004, the newsletter will also be available in Adobe format as created in Microsoft Publisher. The Society actively seeks single page articles from our membership regarding trips, ventures, solutions to intricate research problems, and reminiscences of immigrant ancestors. Members who are not on the Internet receive:
- Six page Slovenian letter writing guide;
- Four page listing of genealogy and other terms;
- A Slovenian word list.
Members who have Internet access receive a password to a Members Only area which includes all of the above, plus the current year's newsletters:
- Addresses of all Slovenian church archives and churches in Slovenia;
- Searches of Slovenian ancestor index card file by surname;
- Research of old Slovene telephone books;
- Village names and locations through research of the Library's Slovenian lexicons and gazeteers.
